HOST A FUND RED EVENT!
WHAT IS FUND RED?
FUND RED is “a third party fundraiser,” which is any fundraising activity benefiting the American Red Cross, Smith County Chapter by any non-affiliated group (like a community organization or an individual) in which the Chapter has no fiduciary responsibility and little or no staff involvement. In short, it’s a local group raising funds to support the Chapter, which in turn benefits Smith, Wood, Cherokee and Henderson counties!
EXAMPLES
A FUND RED event can be as simple as putting out a donation canister at an event or as elaborate as a children’s carnival, musical or dance event.
From lemonade stands to silent auctions to craft and bake sales, your group utilizes unique creativity to design and implement the event, all to make a huge difference for the local community.
Simple yet effective fundraisers are essential to the Smith County Chapter’s ability to respond wherever and whenever we are needed, including the many house and apartment complex fires that have swept through the area at an alarming rate.
WHY SHOULD YOU HOST A FUND RED EVENT?
• Hosting a FUND RED event is a fun and flexible way to give back to the community you live in and allow your members to take on leadership roles.
• Many groups are striving to let people know about the great things their members are doing in the community, and FUND RED is a great showcase for your group and could help attract new members.
• FUND RED isn’t age-prohibitive. A youth group can take the lead!
• Hosting an event will connect your members through service and can be great for team and community-building.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
As with all donations designated to stay local, your support enables the Smith County Chapter to help those in need every day of the year where and when help is needed most. The money would help fund everyday chapter operations, emergency preparedness programs, health and safety training, services to the armed forces, and local disaster and emergency relief in Smith, Wood, Cherokee and Henderson Counties.
GETTING STARTED IS EASY!
•Talk to your members to see what kind of fundraiser they would be interested in doing. Set a goal. How much money do you want to raise? What else do you want to accomplish?
•Discuss your idea and seek the official approval of the American Red Cross, Smith County Chapter before launching your event. We have an easy form to help you along.
•Decide on the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN and WHAT IF.
•Publicize/Advertise your event (we can help!)
•Hold your event.
•Bring the proceeds to the Chapter and take a picture with us!
